Designed in 1949 by Pierre Arpels for his own personal use, the PA49 watch has become Van Cleef & Arpels’signature Timepiece. A round steel case adorned with a discreet central support, a white lacquer dial and alligator make this watch a unique timepiece. 
The PA49 is also equipped with Jaeger-LeCoultre Swiss automatic movement. 
1949年問世的款式，據說由創辦人之一Julien Arpels的兒子Pierre親自設計，原意只是為自己製作一枚獨一無二的手錶，其後也作為限量生產送給親友作禮物。原先只是一枚以一個圓及兩條線條的幾何式超薄裝圓形手錶，這個簡潔的設計在1970年成為銷售項目之一，且銷量甚佳，於是多年來不斷推出變奏的款式，後來已發展至長方形及各種珠寶款式，甚至有女裝的面世，還有加入mystery setting鑲工方法、錶面鋪滿了紅寶石或鑽石的華麗版。
